The goal of the Community Networking project is to create highly scalable, wide area, self-organizing networks using commercial wireless networking hardware.
We are developing mechanisms to build scalable, secure and private wireless community networks. Rather than simply emphasize the theoretical aspects of those networks or simulate possible designs, we will continue our current emphasis on integrating analysis, simulation and deployment.
Research infrastructure
Network scalability
Channel assignment
Network security
Privacy in location based services
Privacy at the physical layer
We are currently setting up an experimental CommuNet in the student community around campus. The status is shown on a map of active and candidate nodes.
If you would be interested in having a free, experimental, wireless Internet node at your home in Boulder, please indicate your interest here
